For a variety of reasons this case has garnered a great deal of media attention with the focus about evenly split between the cop-husband with violent past and the unknown demented woman seeking to harvest a fetus.
The possible ‘return’ of the baby is thought by some to indicate a stranger who was unaware of the bi-racial situation and therefore gained entry to the house by some sort of ruse rather than by an existing relationship.
Baby abandoned in next county found to be unrelated to the missing woman or to the police-officer/lover of the missing woman.
Body found. Boyfriend who had fathered the child arrested. Considerable internet interest in his dating site entries under ‘dalaw150′. Never much real doubt about this case: no signs of forced entry, blood was in bedroom indicating a known and trusted person rather than entry by ruse, two-year old had uttered ‘Mommy’s in the rug’ with the word rug thought to apply to a missing comforter. No word on motive.
